Our Whitfield pilot project from last year is developing this year to progress with the group of local volunteers, community leaders and support organisations.
Since the start of our new funding year, the group has already met three times and they've chosen a new name! Up and Coming Whitfield encapsulates who they are and where they want to go. The group visited MVV Dundee in April to learn more about this industrial processor that sits on the edge of their community. They came away with lots of knowledge and ideas about how they could increase recycling rates in Whitfield. The group is also considering what events they want to see across the year, starting with a community open day at Whitfield Community Garden in September - building on the success of the March event.

Dundee Changemakers Community Connector, Sandy Greene, is there to facilitate and support Up and Coming Whitfield as they decide what they want to work on next, the activities they want to see in their community, and the ways that they can tackle local climate-related issues. One of those areas of support with funding applications. The group has a desire to fund fencing for the Community Garden to make it more secure and safe for outdoor play for local kids. Two funding applications are in and we keep our fingers crossed for them to be successful!
